Stings by bees, wasps,
hornets, and other insects can cause life threatening allergic
reactions. Severe reactions cause wheezing, shortness of breath,
swelling around the face and neck, and other symptoms. People with
severe allergic reactions to insect stings can take a series of
injections to greatly reduce the risk of recurrence of such
reactions. Furthermore, anyone vulnerable to severe allergic
reactions from any cause should carry an epinephrine delivery system
at all times for emergency treatment.
